ExxonMobil subsidiary Esso E&P Nigeria awarded a consortium of Subsea 7's Nigerian subsidiary and West African Ventures Ltd. an development contract for its deepwater Erha North Field off Nigeria, Subsea 7 announced on 7 February 2013.

The contract's scope includes the engineering, procurement, fabrication and installation of 25km flowlines, 15km umblicals and 17 rigid jumpers. The contract also includes modifications to Erha North's FPSO, which will be integrated with new subsea facilities.

Subsea 7 said all subsea structures will be fabricated in Nigeria as well as most of the design work. Installation work is expected to begin early 2015, utilizing the vessels Seven Borealis and the Seven Pacific.

Located in water depths of 1,000-1,200 m, the Erha field is ExxonMobil's first operated deepwater production in Nigeria. The field produced first oil in 2006. Once the development project's second phase is completed, Exxon expects a peak production rate of approximately 60,000 b/d of oil.
