Published

Norway-based seismic services firm TGS has signed a letter of award (LOA) with Polarcus DMCC to acquire 3000sq km of 3D seismic data offshore Norway with a potential extension of up to a total of 7000sq km.

The activity is expected to start this month (April 2015) subject to the issuance of seismic acquisition permits from the relevant authorities.

The work will see the 3D seismic vessel, Polarcus Adira chartered for three months, with an option for three further months.

Polarcus said, following the LOA, its 3D seismic fleet backlog, inclusive of the bareboat charter of Vyacheslav Tikhonov and exclusive of Polarcus Nadia, which is now cold-stacked, currently stands at:

  • Q2 2015 - 90%
  • Q3 2015 - 75%
  • Q4 2015 - 35%

Duncan Eley, COO Polarcus, said: "With this and other recent project awards, the company has demonstrated its ability to capture significant market share in a challenging business environment, providing Polarcus with very good visibility for the next three quarters."
