ROVOP, WFS partner to cut OPEX

Published

ROVOP, a remotely operated vehicle (ROV) service provider, and WFS Technologies, a wireless instrumentation and control solutions developer, have announced a collaboration effort to reduce certain operating costs by up to 80% and extend asset life by years.

This partnership allows integrated installation, equipment servicing and data gathering to be provided and paid for through a single fixed monthly charge.

Applications for the collaboration of technologies include fatigue monitoring by retrofitting instrumentation to platforms, moorings, and other subsea structures that de-risk ageing structures and enable life extension. This cooperation allows, in some cases, for the installation of monitoring systems, which are then paid for as an operating expense over their useful life.

To launch the collaboration, the two companies recently held a live demonstration of ROV-deployed wirelessly enabled products at ROVOP’s Aberdeen headquarters using its underwater test facility and one its fleet of light work class ROVs.
