Granada Bags Engie Fabricom Deal

Belgian company Engie Fabricom has awarded davit crane contracts to Manchester-based Granada Material Handling Ltd for the offshore substations at the 950MW Moray East and 860MW Triton Knoll offshore wind farms.

The crane and handling system supplier will design, manufacture and commission five davit crane units for use on for use on the substation projects. The cranes will be delivered over a six-month period.

Each of the Granada Python crane units has been specifically designed for each offshore wind farm and the challenging marine environment in which it will operate. One Python crane unit will be fitted to each of the five jacket foundation platforms.

Mark Sidwell, director of Granada Material Handling Ltd, said, “We are extremely pleased to have been awarded two further prestigious UK wind farm projects. Securing this contract has been a real team effort by the Granada Renewable product and service division."

Granada has ambitious plans for this market sector, and having supplied over 1,000 offshore davits is the UK’s leading offshore wind farm davit crane supplier," he added.

Each Python crane unit measures approximately 4 meters in height, 5 meters in radius, and weighs approximately 2,000kgs. The maximum lifting capacity of 1,800kgs is needed to hoist the heavier serviceable components from the supply vessel to the laydown area on the platforms of the Jacket type foundations.
