Stone ahead on Cardona

Published

Laffayete, Louisiana-based Stone Energy is ahead of schedule on the deepwater Cardona development project in the US Gulf of Mexico.

The Cardona South well (MC 29 #4), located in Mississippi Canyon 29, is expected to begin initial production by 1 December 2014, six months after drilling. Stone believes gross production will reach an estimated 12,000 boe/d for both the MC 29 #5 and MC 29 #4 wells.

In February, Stone hit oil at the MC 29 #4 well using the ENSCO 8502 drilling rig, the same rig that is drilling MC 29 #5.

Stone Energy is the operator and has 65% interest of both Cardona wells.

Stone also announced that they acquired 40% working interest in the Noble Energy-operated Madison prospect located in Mississippi Canyon Block 479. The project is set to drill in 4Q 2014.
