Faroe selects Petrofac for SNS assets

Petrofac has secured a duty holder contract for two assets in the southern North Sea, following their acquisition by Faroe Petroleum.

Petrofac will continue to provide operations and facilities management to the Schooner and Ketch platforms, located 150km from the Theddlethorpe Gas Terminal on the Lincolnshire coast, following the successful transfer of the contract on 9 October 2014.

Schooner and Ketch, in the fields of the same name in the UK sector of the southern North Sea, have been in production since 1996 and 1999 respectively, developed first by Shell before being acquired by Tullow Oil in 2005. The fields consist of multi-well developments with "normally unmanned" platforms.

The “evergreen” contract, delivered from Petrofac’s Great Yarmouth office, secures 26 onshore and offshore jobs, and in addition to Duty Holder responsibilities, Petrofac will take over management for an existing helicopter services contract.

Walter Thain, Senior Vice President Europe, Petrofac Offshore Projects & Operations said: “Over the past seven years we’ve built up a strong track record with Schooner and Ketch supporting the introduction of seven new wells into the development and supporting the previous operator to significantly and safely increase production. We’re delighted to continue working with the new owner Faroe Petroleum on these assets and look forward to helping them unlock more value and safely extend the life of these fields.”

Petrofac employs 165 people from two offices in Great Yarmouth and manages a total of nine assets in the Southern North Sea. Current oil and gas customers include Alpha Petroleum Resources, Centrica Energy Upstream, Centrica Storage Ltd, ENI and Tullow Oil.
