Tendeka wins Statoil contract for sand screens with ICDs

Tendeka has secured a four-year contract extension with Statoil for the supply of sand-face completion equipment for the Troll field, as well as other fields under Statoil’s operation in the Norwegian Continental Shelf (NCS).

The agreement will see Tendeka install up to 40,000 joints of sand screens fitted with autonomous inflow control devices, as well as zonal isolation packers.

The project extension will commence in January 2015 following a successful first contract period in which Tendeka manufactured and supplied more than 16,000 joints of sand screens with inflow control devices (ICDs) and autonomous inflow control devices (AICDs).

ICDs create a more even production profile along the length of a horizontal wellbore to avoid early water or gas breakthrough due to reservoir heterogeneity, fractures or frictional pressure losses. Tendeka’s FloSure AICDs provide this functionality but additionally have a self-regulating adjustable design to provide greater production choking where gas and water break through occurs. This prevents the well from being flooded with unwanted fluids leading to greater recovery, lower water cuts and less gas production.
