Cotemar suspends Safe Lancia charter

Published

The Cotemar Group is suspending a charter for the Safe Lancia semisubmersible accommodation vessel offshore Mexico, after being impacted by Pemex’s spending cuts.

Vessel owner Prosafe says the suspension will be from mid-March, and the vessel will be demobilized to a suitable lay-up location.

Earlier this month, Prosafe was notified by Cotemar that it would suspend use of the Safe Regency in mid-March, with warning of doing so for the Safe Lancia as well due to Pemex’s cuts.

In late-February, Mexico’s national oil company Pemex announced its massive budget cut by US$5.52 billion.

In addition, Prosafe’s Safe Britannia has been demobilized out of Mexico and is available for charter, while the Jasminia and the Safe Hibernia are being prepared for cold-stacking in the US.
