Aker Solutions inks Utgard EPCIC work

Published

Aker Solutions will provide engineering, procurement, construction, installation and commissioning (EPCIC) services to enable a tie-in of the Utgard gas and condensate field in the North Sea.

The 56.4 MMboe Utgard tie-back consists of a 21km long pipe-in-pipe production pipeline from the 4-slot template at Utgard to the Sleipner T processing and CO2 removal platform and an integrated service umbilical (ISU) from the Sleipner A drilling and living quarters platform.

The work, valued at about US$61.45 million (NOK 500 million), is for platform modifications at Sleipner to tie in the Utgard subsea field.

Last month, Wood Group won a detailed design contract for the project. Wood Group completed front end engineering and design on the project last month.

Aker Solution's work on the contract has started and will be completed in Q4 2019. The project will be managed and executed by Aker Solutions in Stavanger. Prefabrication will be executed at Aker Solutions' yard in Egersund.

Utgard, discovered in 1982 and formerly known as Alfa Sentral, has been considered for development on several occasions in the past, but never made the cut. Statoil, which consolidated its holding in the field this June, by acquiring JX Nippon's 45% share in the UK portion field, says reuse of existing infrastructure was essential to bringing the field to development.
