Boskalis reveals new crane vessel, inks Hornsea work

Dutch marine contractor Boskalis revealed details of a new offshore transport and crane vessel to join its fleet.

The vessel will be a conversion of one of its existing F-class heavy transport vessels. It is being equipped with a 3000-tonne capacity mast crane and will have DP2 and accomodation for up to 150 people. 

The unit already has a backlog, thanks to a contract awarded by DONG Energy Wind Power for the transport and installation of the foundations for a part of the Hornsea Offshore Wind Farm Project One. The entire wind farm will generate a total capacity of 1200MW about 120km off the Yorkshire coast (UK).

In August, DONG received consent for the 300 turbine, 1.8 GW Hornsea Project Two.
