Eco eyes Namibia offshore drilling

Eco (Atlantic) Oil & Gas is plannig to drill a well on its Osprey prospect in the Cooper Block (PEL30) in the Walvis Oil Basin, offshore Namibia.

Osprey is in about 500m water depth and  has had several thousand kilometers of 2D seismic and a 3D survey, by PGS Geophysical, over it. 

Tullow Oil's exploration team has been contracted to oversee processing and conduct the initial interpretation for the block partners.

A report by Gustavson Associates estimated 882 MMboe of gross prospective - best estimate resourcess on the block. 

Eco recently got partner approval to publish a notice for an environmental clearance certificate to drill on the block.

Colin Kinley, Eco’s COO commented: “Namibia has witnessed a resurgence of interest and activity during 2017 and we see this continuing into 2018 with a number of majors and independent E&P companies undertaking drilling activity in the blocks surrounding Cooper Block, including wells announced by Tullow Oil and Chariot Oil & Gas in the offsetting blocks to Eco’s acreage.”
