OLT Offshore LNG Toscana has announced that the tender for the peak shaving service of the FSRU Toscana terminal has been successfully awarded.
"The tender launched on October 2nd by OLT Offshore LNG Toscana for the Terminal "FSRU Toscana", open to all the operators in the LNG market, was successfully concluded with the awarding of the Peak Shaving service for the sixth consecutive year," said a press release from the company.
The company that was awarded the service will provide Snam Rete Gas with a quantity of approximately 109,000 cubic meters of LNG, which will have to be discharged by December 31, 2018.
Also this year the company expresses particular satisfaction with the interest of the market for the activities of the Terminal; in total 6 offers were received.
The Peak Shaving service is one of the emergency measures established by the Decree of the Ministry of the Economic Development within the "Emergency Plan" to face unfavorable events for the national gas system, which may happen during the winter period of the Gas Year 2018/2019, and to guarantee the security of the Italian Gas System.
In case of emergency this service would allow, starting from January 1st 2019 until March 31st 2019, to insert gas in the network - previously unloaded and stocked into the tanks of the Terminal - at short notice with the aim to face peak requests of the gas system for a limited period of time.
OLT Offshore LNG Toscana, set up from the association of Iren Group (49.07%), Uniper Global Commodities - formerly E.ON Global Commodities - (48.24%) and Golar LNG (2.69%), owns and manages the floating regasification Terminal "FSRU Toscana".
