RWE Dea UK received the operatorship in a further three licenses in the Southern North Sea's 27th Offshore Oil and Gas Licensing Round.
In addition to the two licenses they received earlier this year, P2018 West of Shetland and P1975 Northern North Sea, RWE Dea UK was recently awarded additional three.
The three new licenses are all in the Southern North Sea. RWE Dea is the sole owner and operator of P2109, including blocks 42/22b & 42/23a. P2109 is adjacent to the greater Breagh area, where RWE Dea already operates the Breagh gas field, one of the largest natural gas discoveries under development in the UK sector of the Southern North Sea.
RWE Dea has also been awarded P2119, with blocks 48/24a and 48/25c, and a 40% working interest (WI) in the license. P2119 lies adjacent to Clipper South, another important gas field that RWE Dea brought on-stream in 2012.
The third license awarded to RWE Dea is P2134, with the blocks 43/25b and 44/21c. In these blocks, the company has a 50% WI. The start date for all three licenses is Dec. 20. with an initial term of four years.
The license awards are subject to formal ratification by the Department of Energy and Climate Change.
