Odfjell Drilling and BP Angola have agreed a deal securing further work for Odfjell Drilling's sixth generation ultra-deepwater and harsh environment semisubmersible Deepsea Stavanger (pictured) on Block 18 in Angola.

The contract is in direct continuation of an existing contract and is for six wells, with an estimated 13-month total duration. The contract secures work for Deepsea Stavanger for BP in Angola through 2015.

The contract value is estimated to US$210 million. In addition, the contract amendment includes two unpriced options for two wells each.

"We appreciate this opportunity to continue the drilling operations with "Deepsea Stavanger" for BP in Angola, says Simen Lieungh, CEO & President.
