Hess Corp. is ready to start production at its North Malay basin project offshore Malaysia in Q3 2017.

The North Malay Basin Block PM302 is about 300km (186mi) offshore the Trengganu Gas Terminal in the Gulf of Thailand, with a water depth of some 55m (180ft), and multiple gas bearing zones located at depths of 1000-3000m (3500–10,000ft).

At North Malay, hook-up of the topsides for the central processing platform was completed in Q2 and first production of natural gas started in mid-July with commissioning activities ongoing. The field is expected to ramp up net production to approximately 165 MMcf/d during Q3, Hess said in its Q2 2017 report.

Hess is the operator of the development with a 50% working interest. Petronas Carigali owns the remaining 50% working interest.
