Tullow spuds Zumba

Tullow Oil began exploration drilling at the Zumba prospect in the Norwegian Sea, according to partner North Energy.

Zumba is located in production licence 591, on the Haltenbanken approximately 14km southeast of the Heidrun field, in about 281m water depth.

The primary objective of the Zumba well is the upper Jurassic sandstones.  Zumba has gross mean unrisked of about 184MMboe in the license, according to North Energy’s 1Q 2015 report.

The Leiv Eiriksson semisubmersible is drilling the well to a total depth of 3000m. Drilling is expected to be complete in 60 days.

Tullow Oil Norge is the operator with 60% interest. Partners include Lime Petroleum Norway (25%) and North Energy (15%).
