Waves Group Aids Taiwanese OWP

The UK-based Waves Group is currently providing marine warranty surveyor services at the 120MW Formosa 1 Phase 2 offshore wind farm in Taiwan.

The company is carrying out marine warranty survey work concerning the installation of foundations, infield cables, wind turbines and export cables.

According to Waves Group, the contract began in October last year and will continue through to the end of 2019.

Located off the coast of Miaoli in Northwest Taiwan, the wind farm is a joint venture project of Orsted (35%), JERA (32.5%), Macquarie Capital (25%) and Swancor (7.5%).

The total output of Formosa 1 will be 128 MW power generated from 20 6 MW turbines and 2 4MW turbines. The windfarm will be fully operational within the coming months.

"This contract award further strengthens our position as the leading marine consultancy within the offshore wind sector. We have worked on a number of large-scale offshore wind farm projects within the UK and Europe such as, Triton Knoll, Horns Rev 3, Galloper, Beatrice and Seamade among others," said a company statement.
