PSW Group has been awarded a contract with Transocean for storage and maintenance of blowout preventers (BOP) for Cat-D rigs. The agreement has a duration of five years.

The scope of work consist of storage and inspection, maintenance and repair (IMR) services of BOP and related equipment for all Transocean Cat-D rigs.

The agreement follows PSW Group’s investment in a new, tailor-made facility for BOP-related services.

Due to the dimensions of a BOP, dissasembly, maintenance and reassembly require significant lifting capacity, as well as testing facilities and logistics. PSW Group’s new 10,000-square-meter facility at Mongstad, Western Norway, is purpose-built and include a test pit, combined crane capacity of 240 tons and stack-up height of 18.5 meters. The site is currently under construction and will be in operation in October 2019.

CEO of PSW Group, Oddbjørn Haukøy, said, "We are very pleased to be awarded this contract by Transocean, proving that our investment is a welcomed addition to the energy industry. I am confident that our new state-of-the-art facility combined with our extensive experience and skilled personnel will provide world-class services to this market.”
