Production and deployment of a bespoke, 7km long single length ROV fibre-optic hybrid cable was successfully accomplished by Italian cable manufacturer Novacavi for Finnish survey company Loxus Technologies' underwater inspection system. Combining special electric cables with fibre optics, the neutrally buoyant tether cable for a work-class ROV also had to be load-bearing with 7000kg breaking strength.
