Tullow Oil's offshore Ghana Tweneboa-Enyenra-Ntomme Development (TEN project) plan has been given the green light by the country's government.
The TEN project is in the Deepwater Tano Contract Area, 60km off the coast of Ghana and about 30km west of Tullow's Jubilee Field.
The development will involve the drilling and completion of up to 24 development wells, which will be connected to a floating, production, storage and offloading vessel (FPSO) moored in about 1500m of water.
Design of the FPSO, subsea facilities and development wells was started in 2011 and key contracts are now due to be finalised. This includes an aim for in-country fabrication for facilities on the TEN Project.
First oil is expected from TEN in 2016 with a plateau production rate of 80,000 bopd.
Tullow is operator of the Deepwater Tano Contract Area with an equity interest of 47.175%. Other partners are Kosmos Energy (17%), Anadarko Petroleum (17%), Sabre Oil & Gas Holdings, a wholly owned subsidiary of Petro SA (3.825%), and the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (15%).
