First gas from Ruby field

Production at Indonesia’s Ruby field kicked off Oct. 27. The field has been in development since June 2011 and is expected to produce natural gas at a rate of 17,000boe/d.

Located within the Sebuku Production Sharing Contract (PSC) 300km south of Balikpapan City, Ruby field lies in a water depth of 50-100km. Sebuku PSC covers approximately 2345km sq. in the Makassar Strait between the Kalimantan and Sulawesi islands

All platform facilities were constructed in Indonesian fabrication yards between September 2011 and March 2013.

Gas is delivered via a 194-mi. onshore pipeline to the Mahakam block’s existing, dedicated terminal at the Senipah plant. The terminal was installed at the end of 2012 and is operated by Total E&P. Approximately 250 Bcf will be produced for sale to the domestic market over the life of the field.

Mubadala Petroleum and its partners, Total E&P Sebuku and Inpex South Makassar Ltd. have invested approximately $500MM in building the project’s facilities, an amount which Mubadala Chairman Suhail Al Mazrouei called “the single largest energy investment in Indonesia by a United Arab Emirates company.”

As operator, Mubadala holds a 70% working interest (WI). It partners with Inpex and Total, equally holding the remaining 30%. Inpex also has a 50% participating interest in the offshore Mahakam block, the largest gas producer in Indonesia.
