PEMEX orders Spanish flotels

PEMEX Exploración y Producción (PEP) has chosen a Spanish ship builder for the construction of two ship-shaped flotels.

One will be built at the Navantias' Ferrol Estuary shipyard on the northwest coast of Spain. The construction of the ship (pictured) will bring to Navantia more than 1 million hours of work, which means activity for 30 months.

The flotel will accomodate personnel working on oil platforms. It is designed to accommodate 700 people and has a dynamic positioning capability.
