Petrobras and Fiat sign research MOU

This Friday, 31 Jan, in Rio de Janeiro, Fiat Automóveis and Petrobras signed a memorandum of understanding to collaborate on research and development projects for innovative technologies and processes in the areas of fuels and motors.

Teams from both companies will share technical information and carry out studies on technical and economic feasibility together, focusing on more efficient vehicles with lower emissions.

"In this first stage, we will identify topics of common interest for research and development projects. Petrobas accumulates a large amount of experience in the development of new technologies and fuels, and will certainly have much to contribute to studies on the innovation of energy sources for motors," said Paolo Ferrero, Latin American director of Engenharia Powertrain.

"Working in partnership with vehicle manufacturers is fundamental for us to ensure the best performance of our fuels in engines, with increasing economic and environmental efficiency," said Oscar Chamberlain, general manager for Research & Development in Supply and Biofuels and the Petrobras Research Center.

The agreement is valid for five years, and may be renewed for another five. It includes a non-disclosure clause, to ensure safety in the sharing of confidential information between the two companies. During this period, the companies will carry out research projects together, after identifying opportunities of mutual interest.
