New areas offered in APA 2014

The Ministry of Petroleum and Energy has announced the APA 2014 in the predefined areas on the Norwegian Shelf. Awards are projected to be announced in 1Q 2015.

The APA system has been extended with the addition of three blocks in the Barents Sea near Snøhvit field, and six blocks in the Norwegian Sea near the Aasta Hansteen field. Applications can be submitted for blocks or partial blocks that lie within the APA’s predefined area. The deadline for applications is 12:00am 2 Sept 2014.

The APA 2014 has been expanded by the predefined area with six blocks in the Norwegian Sea near Aasta Hansteen field and three blocks in the Barents Sea near the Snøhvit field. The announcement has been subject to public consultation.

Background

Awards in Predefined Areas (APA ) is one of two equally licensing round on the Norwegian Continental Shelf. The scheme was introduced in 2003 to facilitate timely exploration of the geological most famous parts of the shelf.
