G10/48 covers 4696sq km over the southern section of the Pattani basin in water depths up to 60m. The Wassana field is expected to begin production in 2H 2015.

Rubicon Vantage International Pte Ltd.’s Rubicon Vantage is a double-hull FSO that measures at 228.6m in overall length and has a storage capacity of 597,206 barrels. The vessel has been operating in the Gulf of Thailand since 2008 and has accommodations for up to 40 persons.

The Equatoriale Services Pte Ltd. CALM buoy’s hull is moored to the seabed using six mooring chain legs guided through rotating chain stoppers and connected to high capacity power anchors. A turntable is located on top of the hull to accommodate FSO mooring hawsers and floating hoses. A proprietary-designed dual-path swivel unit enables the transfer of fluids during vessel rotations. Fluids are transferred from the CALM buoy to the FSO via floating hoses protected by marine breakaway couplings. This widely used technology enables safe mooring of the vessel while guaranteeing the transfer of crude oil and water during weather vanning of the FSO.

“With the FSO and CALM buoy contracts, most of the key elements for the Wassana development – facilities, drilling contract and now offloading and storage – are in place and we are on track to take the field into production next year,” says Chris Gibson-Robinson, director exploration & production. “We plan to coordinate further exploration in G10/48 at the same time.”

KrisEnergy holds 100% working interest in G10/48. The license contains three oil discoveries: Wassana, Niramai and Mayura, which are in various stages of development or appraisal.

In August, KrisEnergy completed drilling on the Mancharee-1 well in G10/48, with no significant pay zones identified. The company said gas shows were encountered at several levels but no significant pay zones were identified.

The block also contains the Niramai and Mayura oil discoveries, which are in various stages of development or appraisal.
