SBM poaches Technip exec

Technip's president and chief operating officer (COO) is joining Netherlands-based floating production specialists SBM Offshore as COO.

Philippe Barril (pictured) will start on 1 March. Barril had joined Technip five years ago and had been named president and COO in January last year. He had previously served as executive vice president and COO onshore / offshore and senior vice president onshore-offshore product lines and technologies.  

At SBM, he will be responsible for overseeing project execution, business acquisition and fleet operations. The role is a new role at SBM.

Bruno Chabas, CEO of SBM Offshore said: "Philippe is an experienced veteran of our industry and brings a wealth of relevant operating experience to the company, and I am confident that he will quickly become a valued member of our team."
