Lula Alto is an ongoing development located in the Santos basin, near Sapinhoa and Iracema, off Rio de Janeiro.

The contract, estimated at more than US$560 million, includes Technip to supply around 200km of flexible pipes and associated equipment, including gas lift, gas and water injection, gas export and production lines. The company says that these high technological flexible pipes are designed to meet pre-salt challenges with water depths of up to 2500m and high pressures. Delivery is scheduled to begin in 2H 2015.

Technip’s Rio de Janeiro operating center will perform the project management and engineering. The flexible pipes will be produced at its manufacturing sites of Vitoria and Açu, Brazil.

Tupi BV is a consortium composed of Petrobras Netherland BV (PNBV, 65%), BG (25%) and Galp (10%).

In November, Petrobras said it would install a permanent 4D seismic monitoring system at the 1500sq km Lula field. Four-dimensional seismic encompasses time, in addition to the three dimensions of space, and is one of the most advanced technologies available to monitor oil fields.
