GDF Suez E&P UK made a new discovery at the Dalziel structure in the UK Central North Sea.

The Transocean Galaxy II jackup. From Transocean.

Well 22/16-6 flowed at rates in excess of 8000 boe/d and is now being side-tracked to appraise the extent of the discovery.

The exploration well, located in Block 22/16 in the P.1799 license, was drilled using the Transocean Galaxy II jackup rig.

“This is another encouraging discovery by GDF SUEZ following on from a successful exploration campaign in 2014,” says Ruud Zoon, GDF Suez E&P UK managing director. “It demonstrates a continuing commitment by GDF SUEZ to an active exploration, appraisal and development drilling program on the UK Continental Shelf.”

GDF is the operator with 30% interest. Co-venture partners are RWE DEA UK SNS Ltd. (25%), JX Nippon E&P (U.K.) Ltd. (25%) and Total E&P UK Ltd. (20%).

In October, BG Group awarded Plexus to provide surface wellhead and mudline equipment services for exploration well 22/16-6. The contract ran for 150 days and included Plexus' 18-3/4-in. 15,000psi high-pressure, high-temperature adjustable surface wellhead and mudline system for a standard pressure well.
