Dutch motion-compsenated gangway firm Ampelmann has been awarded a contract by Boa Marine Services (BMS) for a gangway solution for the ExxonMobil-operated Gulf of Mexico Julia project.

The work scope of Ampelmann comprises transferring day- and nightshifts of personnel and 24-hour emergency evacuation stand-by.

The multi-purpose vessel Boa Deep C of BMSI is being fitted with an Ampelmann A-type gangway. The A-type is mobilized on a 23m pedestal so it is capable of landing at the platform at a height of 32m.

The A-type provides a stable transfer platform in conditions up to 2.5m significant wave height thereby ensuring safe, efficient and reliable transfer of personnel.

Thomas Massink, Ampelmann USA, says: “As the global market leader in motion compensation access solutions, Ampelmann is pleased that another major in the Gulf Of Mexico shows confidence in the most safe, efficient and reliable means of offshore access. We look forward to making this yet another successful project in the Americas region.”

This May, Ampelmann opened an office in Houston, Texas to strengthen its presence in the Americas and to confirm the company’s commitment to the global oil and gas industry. As demand for Ampelmann systems continues to grow, its presence in Houston will ensure the delivery of high service and support to current and future customers worldwide.
