FMC Technologies has been chosen as the first winner of the OTC Brasil 2015 Spotlight on New Technology Award.

The award recognizes FMC Technologies’ shape memory alloy fittings in subsea equipment, which was developed to replace orbital welding processes used to connect hydraulic tubing. It is based on shaped memory alloy (Nickel/Titanium), which changes phases with temperature, enabling changes in shape and size.

Modeled after the same award at OTC, the award recognizes the latest and most advanced technologies leading Brazil’s offshore energy industry.

Selection of the winner was based on the following criteria:

  • New: less than 2 years’ old
  • Innovative: original and capable of developing the offshore exploration and production industry
  • Proven: through full-scale application or successful prototype testing
  • Broad Interest: broad appeal for the industry
  • Significant Impact: provides significant benefits beyond existing technologies

The award will be presented on 28 October 2015 at Pavillion 3 in Riocentro.
