Statoil to drill Vigdis with Bideford Dolphin

Published

Norway’s Petroleum Safety Authority (PSA) has approved for Statoil to use the Bideford Dolphin mobile drilling facility for production drilling at Vigdis in the Norwegian North Sea.

Statoil is to plug the B-1 AH production well on the Vigdis field. Using a sidetrack from this well, a new well is to be drilled, B-1 BH.

Vigdis is an oil field in block 34/7 at Tampen at 280m water depth, and has been developed using subsea facilities. The wellstream is piped to Snorre A for processing. Production at Vigdis began in 1997.

In addition to the main structure, this field comprises the Borg Nordvest and Vigdis Øst structures. These began producing in 2003 and 2004 respectively.
