Aker BP started drilling operations at the well 25/4 – 11 on the Hyrokkin prospect in the Norwegian North Sea with the Maersk Interceptor jackup last week, according to partner Fortis Petroleum.

Wildcat well 25/4 – 11 is in PL 677, approximately 20km northeast of the Alvheim field and approximately 220km northwest of Stavanger on the west coast of Norway. The well was spudded on 11 August.
The primary objective of the wildcat is to test the hydrocarbon potential and reservoir properties of the Tertiary Heimdal Fm. in the Hyrokkin prospect.
Drilling is expected to take approximately 23.
“The spudding of well 25/4 – 11 in this highly prospective part of the Norwegian North Sea close to existing infrastructure is exciting as we believe that a great deal of value remains to be extracted from the Norwegian Continental Shelf,” says Michael Haagaard, Fortis CEO.
Last month, Norway’s Petroleum Safety Authority granted Aker BP consent to drill two wildcat wells at the Hyrokkin prospect.
