BP Charters Prosafe's Safe Zephyrus

BP Exploration Operating Company has chartered the Safe Zephyrus to provide gangway connected operations supporting the completion of some post first oil scopes in summer months when the weather is favourable at the Clair Ridge platform West of Shetland in the UK sector of the North Sea.

According to Prosafe SE, owner of Safe Zephyrus, the firm duration of the contract commencing mid-May 2019 is five months with a one-month option and directly follows the completion of the Johan Sverdrup contract.

It said that the Safe Zephyrus is one of the worlds most advanced and versatile accommodation vessels, complying with stringent rules in both UK and Norway. The contract will be performed using dynamic positioning, affording BP flexibility and high bed capacity throughout operations.

"The vessel has a GVA 3000E design and is equipped with a DP3 (dynamic positioning) system as well as 12-point mooring arrangement. This will allow for operations in both DP and anchored mode, providing maximum cost efficiency and flexibility," said the company.

The Safe Zephyrus can accommodate 450 persons in single man cabins.

Total value of the contract excluding the option periods is approximately USD 19 million.

Jesper Kragh Andresen, CEO of Prosafe says:“For the second year in a row Prosafe will be providing BP with a high quality vessel at Clair Ridge. The Safe Zephyrus track record of gangway connected operations is second to none since her delivery in 2016, and together with the Prosafe team represents the best the industry can offer.”

Prosafe is a leading owner and operator of semi-submersible accommodation vessels. The company is listed on the Oslo Stock Exchange with ticker code PRS.
