Sparrows gets Kraken contract

Published

Sparrows Group has secured a contract to provide crane management services at the Kraken field in the UK North Sea.

Over three years, Sparrows will provide support during the pre-operations and operations phase aboard the floating, production, storage and offloading (FPSO) vessel being deployed at the field, approximately 125km east of the Shetland Islands. The Kraken field is expected to deliver first oil this year.

Sparrows will maintain four cranes and all lifting equipment on the Kraken field’s FPSO, as well as providing inspection and training services as required. Full onshore management and engineering support for the scope is included in the contract.

Kraken is a large heavy oil accumulation in the East Shetland basin. The field is operated by EnQuest, which has a 70.5% holding, with partner Cairn Energy owning a 29.5% interest.
