Lukoil has started drilling the first production well at the Vladimir Filanovsky field after completing construction of the field’s second phase development facilities.
The company plans to complete drilling early next year, Lukoil said in a 7 December statement. The phase two facilities will allow field production to reach a plateau of 6MM tonnes/year.
Production from the field’s first phase, which includes six production wells and two injection wells, has surpassed 5MM tonnes per oil.
Located in the Russian sector of the Caspian Sea, Filanovsky started operations in 2016. The field, which is being developed in three phases, holds initial recoverable reserves of 129MM tonnes of oil and 30 Bcm of gas.
Phase 1 includes a fixed ice resistant platform, an accommodation block platform, a riser block and a central processing platform. Eight wells have been drilled in this phase. Phase 2 facilities include a fixed ice resistant platform and an accommodation block platform. Construction of the field’s third development phase, a wellhead platform, started this year.
