Dual-fuel PSV starts North Sea contract

Siem Offshore recently accepted delivery of its newbuild dual fuel PSV Siem Symphony from Hellesøy Verft Shipyard in Norway.

The vessel is now at work in the Norwegian offshore market. Built to Wärtsilä’s VS 4411 DF design, Siem Symphony can be powered by either LNG or marine diesel oil. The vessel has an overall length of 89.2m, breadth of 19m, a cargo deck area of 980sq m and a maximum deadweight of 5500 tonnes. Among other features, she has cargo capacities for 1980cu m of drillwater, 830cu m of fresh water, 930cu m of liquid mud, 700cu m of brine, and 345cu m of methanol.

The vessel is classed by DNV GL, and has an accommodation capacity for 25 persons. She comes equipped with FiFi II, NOFO 2009 and standby/rescue capacity for 300 persons.

Siem Symphony is working for Total Norge for a period of four years firm plus four one-year options. The vessel will be supporting Total’s operations at the Martin Linge field in the North Sea.

Also delivered in November was another Wärtsilä-designed dual fuel PSV, Rem Eir, which was built for Remøy Shipping by Kleven Verft in Norway. Rem Eir has also entered service in the Norwegian offshore sector.

The VS 4412 DF Rem Eir can also be powered by either LNG or marine diesel oil. Both of the vessels are equipped with a safe bulk hose handling system.

Rem Eir has an overall length of 92.5m, breadth of 20m, a cargo deck area of 1090sq m and a maximum deadweight of 5770-tonne. She is currently the world‘s largest decked LNG-powered PSV in operation. Rem Eir is also classed by DNV GL, and she has an accommodation capacity for 26 persons and DP 2 station keeping.

The vessel is now working for Statoil offshore Norway, under the terms of a three-year plus three one-year options contract.
