Multiconsult inks Statoil Northern Lights CCS project contract

Statoil has awarded Norwegian firm Multiconsult a for site preparation and marine structures for Statoil's  carbon capture and storage (CCS) demonstration project offshore Norway.

The project, called Northern Lights by Statoil, will see a full-scale CCS value chain with capture from up to three industrial sources, ship transport and permanent geological storage developed. 

Gassnova is the project integrator for the total CCS value chain, and awarded in June 2017 the concept and front end engineering and design (FEED) studies for the storage part to Statoil. Shell and Total entered the project as partners in September 2017.

The value of Multiconsult's contract is about NOK 24 million. Multiconsult will perform the site preparation design and marine structures design for the Northern Lights Onshore Facility Terminal. The scope of services include concept, FEED, detailed engineering and follow up phases. 

Completion date for the contract is in 2021, however most of Multiconsult's work will be executed in 2018 and 2019. 

The contract award is subject to standstill period, which expires on 13 November 2017.
