Norway's Aibel has started construction work on Dea's US$1.23 billion Norwegian Sea Davlin subsea tieback, with first steel cut on Dvalin module H25 in Haugesund.
The Dvalin gas field, previously known as Zidane, discovered in 2010, is DEA’s first own operated field development project in Norway.
The field development will comprise four subsea wells tied back to the existing Heidrun host platform. A four-slot template will be installed on the seabed with flow-lines and umbilical connected to Heidrun. A new 4500-tonne module for processing and compression of gas will be installed on Heidrun by its operator, Statoil.
On 17 October, the construction of the second and largest Dvalin module, M40, will start in Haugesund. The prefabrication for the modification scope at Heidrun has been ongoing since May.
First gas from Dvalin is expected in 2020. The gas will be transported to Heidrun via a 14.9km pipeline. From there, it will be sent to the Polarled trunk line via a 7.5km pipeline before it will be further processed to dry gas spec at the Nyhamna onshore gas terminal. Finally, the gas will be transported via Gassled to the market.
The field is located in Production Licence (PL) 435, about 15km northwest of Heidrun and 35km south of the Skarv field in the Norwegian Sea. The license was awarded in the Awards in Predefined Areas (APA) 2006.
Last last year, DEA awarded the engineering, procurement, construction and installation contract for the smaller structures and pipelines as well as the subsea installation work of the Dvalin development offshore Norway to Technip (now TechnipFMC).
The contract includes the fabrication of smaller structures, the 12/16in pipe-in-pipe production flowline, the 12in gas export pipeline and the installation of pipelines as well as all subsea structures and umbilical for the Dvalin field.
Recoverable reserves of the Dvalin field are estimated to around 18.2 Bcm of gas and 0.4 MMcm of condensate.
