Italy's Eni announced that its gas development offshore Cape Three Points (OCTP), Ghana, is 63% complete, with start-up planned for 2018.
Eni said that construction on the onshore receiving facility and associated pipelines are proceeding as planned. Gas produced by OCTP will allow Ghana to generate a minimum of 900 MW, which might, in the future, increase to up to 1500 MW.
Eni achieved first oil from OCTP back in May 2017, three months ahead of schedule. Eni expects to ramp up production to 5.2 MMbbl from the 2.8 MMbbl initially expected. The project is expected to reach a plateau of 45,000 bo/d by end of 2017.
The project comprises the Sankofa Main, Sankofa East and Gye-Nyame fields, about 60km off Ghana. It was completed in 29 months. The fields, which contain about 770 MMboe in place, including 500 MMbo and 270 MMboe (41 Bcm) of non-associated gas, are being produced via the John Agyekum Kufuor floating production, storage and offloading unit (FPSO).
The OCTP project includes Eni (44.44% and operator), Vitol (35.56%), and GNPC [Ghana National Petroleum Corp.] (20%).
