Teesta Spirit’s journey to the Atlantic Ocean

In this video, Teekay captured  a time-lapse video of the Teesta Spirit vessel transiting through the Panama Canal.

The Teesta Spirit began at the Balboa Anchorage, transiting through three sets of locks until reaching its final destination in the Atlantic Ocean.

It is estimated that 13,000 to 14,000 ships pass through the Panama Canal each year. A vessel like Teesta Spirit can spend up to eight hours passing through the Canal. While there, she passed through a system of locks that lifted her 85ft above sea level and into the world’s largest artificial lake, Lake Gatun.
