Norwegian shipping company GC Rieber Shipping has been awarded a six-month charter for its Construction Support Vessel Polar Queen.

The operator of offshore subsea support vessels, marine seismic vessels and polar logistics and research expeditions said in a press release that the contract for a fixed period for a period of about 5 months with options to extend by up to one month was with “a European offshore client,” without revealing the name of the client.

The project is the same as Polar Queen was engaged on during the summer of 2018 and 2019, it said.

The vessel will be used in British sector to perform accommodation services and walk-to-work duties, and commencement will be in April 2020.

"We are pleased with securing backlog in a continuous challenging market. Polar Queen has proven her success in the walk-to-work market, and we are proud to see that the vessel and her capabilities are recognized by our clients", said Einar Ytredal, CEO of GC Rieber Shipping.

GC Rieber Shipping  has a specialized competence in offshore operations in harsh environments as well as design, development and maritime operation of offshore vessels.

It currently operates 11 and has direct and indirect ownership in 22 advanced special purpose vessels for defined markets within the subsea, ice/support and marine seismic segments.
