Subsea 7 selected for Statoil's Mariner

Published

Subsea 7 has been picked to carry out engineering, procurement, installation and construction work on Statoil's UK North Sea heavy oil Mariner field.

The work, worth about $170million, will cover 39km of rigid flowlines and flexible riser systems, together with associated subsea structures, protection systems, and tie-ins.

Project management and engineering work have started at Subsea 7’s offices in Stavanger, Norway and Aberdeen, UK.

Offshore activities using Subsea 7 vessels are due to start in 2015 and complete in 2016.

The Mariner Field is on the East Shetland Platform, about 150km east of the Shetland Isles.

Development will be through a production, drilling and quarters (PDQ) platform on a steel jacket with a floating storage unit. Drilling will be from the PDQ drilling rig, with a jack-up rig assisting for the first four to five years.

First production is due to start in 2017.
