NCS Survey, an Acteon company, was awarded a five-year contract with AKOFS Wayfarer AS, a Norwegian marine contractor, for the supply of positioning and survey services aboard the Aker Wayfarer.

Since January 2011, NCS Survey has been aboard the vessel via a contract with Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV) contractor, Oceaneering, working on several projects including Wellstream's OSX-1 in Brazil in 2011 and 2012, and with Subsea 7 last year.

"This contract award underlines our desire to grow our construction support business line and builds on our previous successful relationship with Aker, a major contractor within the oil and gas market," said John Meaden, group MD.

Recently mobilised in Peterhead, Scotland, Aker Wayfarer will begin another project with Wellstream in Brazil where the vessel will be managed by local entity NCS Survey do Brasil, which was established in 2012.

"This demonstrates our increasing capability to deliver services to support clients and projects on a global basis," said Chris Erni, chief operating officer. "This has been a group success for the company. NCS Survey's recently established Norwegian entity assisted with securing the contract, while our Brazilian office will assist with delivery by managing a major subsea installation scope with the end client's engineering and management teams in Rio de Janeiro."

NCS Survey has multiple long-term frame agreements with subsea and marine installation, ROV and diving contractors such as Aker; Technip; Bibby Offshore; Subsea 7; Hallin Marine; i-Tech and Oceaneering providing survey and positioning services aboard the contractors' vessels.
