Lamprell has completed and delivered the first of two Caspian Sea jackup rigs following tow out from the Astrakhan re-assembly yard.
The new rig will now start its first contract in the Caspian Sea.
Good progress is being made on a second Caspian Sea jackup, which is expected to be delivered in Q4 2014, said Lamprell.
The first two module shipments have already been transferred from the group's facility in Hamriyah to the Astrakhan yard as planned and on time.
Last week Lamprell delivered the jackup rig Jindal Star to Jindal Pipes (Singapore) Pte. Ltd., a D. P. Jindal Group company.
It was completed on budget, 20 months after initial steel cutting at Lamprell’s Hamriyah facility in the UAE. The rig is destined for drilling operations offshore India.
The Jindal Star, weighing 10,500 tonnes at delivery, is a LeTourneau Super 116E (Enhanced) with a self-elevating, 477 ft leg design.
The spud cans were redesigned and fitted with extensions to meet Jindal’s requirement with regard to the maximum ground bearing pressure, which is specific to Indian waters.
The Group has eight more LeTourneau rigs at various stages of construction.
