Low mobility in Langlitinden

Published

Det Norske Oljeselskap's well 7222/11-2 on the Langlitinden prospect in production license 659 in the Barents Sea is being completed.

Partner Lundin Petroleum said logs and samples have been acquired. Oil with very low mobility was sampled in Middle Triassic sandstones. No pressure gradient was established.

The well was drilled to a total depth of 2878m below mean sea level in 340m water depth using the Transocean Barents semisubmersible drilling rig (pictured). The well will be permanently plugged and abandoned.

The Langlitinden prospect is 80km northeast of the Snøhvit field. It was Det norske's first operated well in the Barents Sea.

Partner Rocksource ASA had estimated the Langlitinden prospect potentially contained 220MM boe unrisked, gross prospective resources.

Det norske is the operator with 20% working interest (WI), with partners Lundin Norway (20% WI), Tullow (15% WI), Rocksource (5% WI), Petoro (30% WI) and Atlantic Petroleum (10% WI).

The license was awarded in February 2012, in connection with the APA 2011 licensing round.
