Tymor opens Louisiana office

The expansion follows a second successful year for the naval architecture and marine engineering specialist.  The company, which focuses on marine, subsea and structural design and analysis, is on track to record turnover of £800,000 for the financial year ended March 2014, representing annual growth of 60 per cent.  Tymor Marine currently employs 10 people, but expects this to increase to 16 in the coming year as it seeks to grow its turnover by two-thirds.

The firm’s US operations will trade as Tymor Marine US Inc from offices in Kaplan, Louisiana – close to Lafayette – where it will apply its knowledge and experience of naval architecture and marine engineering to assist US clients with activities such as stability analysis, seafastening and project cargo shipments.

Two full-time members of staff are currently employed in the US office but this is expected to grow to four within the next quarter.  Experienced engineering project manager Lonnie Gaspard has been appointed as vice president and is responsible for delivering Tymor Marine’s in-depth technical design and analysis services in the region.

Managing director Kevin Moran (pictured) said: “During this past year the business has grown ahead of our expectations, illustrating the level of demand there is for our services from marine, subsea and energy companies. The US office will make a significant contribution to the business in the coming year as we look to repeat this year’s 60% growth.”

Founded in 2012, Tymor Marine is a Scottish design and analysis consultancy specialising in naval architecture, marine, subsea and structural engineering for the energy industries.  In addition to its new premises in Louisiana, the company has bases in Glasgow and Aberdeen and provides work for 10 people.
