Petrofac announces new VP

Pedro Vergel joins Houston-based Petrofac Training Services (PTS) as vice president of the Western Hemisphere for Petrofac Training, a newly-created role.

Vergel will be responsible for PTS operations in Europe and the Americas as the company re-aligns its global structure to a regional model, focusing on further growing market share and the integrated growth of product and service lines. It will also have a special focus on developing new and existing talent and capabilities.

Vergel, who has a background in drilling and subsurface, joins PTS with more than 30 years of client-side expertise and knowledge, gained predominantly during a 29-year career at Schlumberger. There he undertook a number of global multidisciplinary roles, based in Houston, Brazil, Moscow and other international locations.

Vergel is a qualified mechanical and petroleum engineer and MBA graduate from the University of Chicago, Booth School of Business. He joins PTS from Argentina-based integrated oil and gas company YPF, where he managed the company’s drilling activities. Additionally, as a senior consultant at EnerMTB Consulting, he advised major venture capital organizations and oil and gas majors on global portfolio expansion.
