Subsea7 taps Trelleborg for Nigeria

Subsea 7 awarded Trelleborg’s offshore unit a contract for phase two of the Erha North project, off Nigeria. Under the contract, Trelleborg will supply several tonnes of its high-temperature advanced silicone insulation solution, Vikotherm S1, to the oil and gas flowlines in the field. Manufactured using room-temperature vulcanization technology, the coating can withstasnd the field's the high 300°F (149°C) temperature.

“We developed a high temperature, microsphere free product to improve overall performance of the insulation system," Lee Roskell, proposals team manager within Trelleborg’s offshore unit, said.

The Erha North phase two development is located in a water depth of 3960ft (1200m) and is an extension of the existing Erha subsea system and infrastructure. It is currently producing through the existing Erha FPSO vessel located offshore Nigeria. Trelleborg is expected to complete its supply of thermal insulation by 4Q 2014.
