Shell Gabon awarded Van Oord an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract for the replacement of a dual 10km long oil export line.
The EPC contract began this month and continues until summer 2015.
The export line runs from the Gamba terminal, 200 NM south of Port of Gentil, to a pipeline end manifold (PLEM). The existing 30 in. line will be replaced by a looped dual 22 in. sea line system with pigging facilities allowing for inspection and cleaning. Van Oord will deploy shallow water pipe lay barge Stingray.
Last month, Shell made a large exploration discovery at the Leopard-1 well, offshore Gabon. The exploration well encountered a substantial gas column with around 200m net gas pay in a pre-salt reservoir.
In September, Ulstein won the design and equipment contract for Van Oord’s new subsea rock installation (SRI) vessel Bravenes.
