Lucius is located approximately 380km southwest of Port Fourchon, Louisiana at 2160m water depth. The field includes portions of Keathley Canyon blocks 874, 875, 918 and 919.

According to partner Inpex, natural gas produced at Lucius will be processed at a floating facility capable of processing 80,000bbl and 450 MMscf/d of natural gas. It will be transported to an onshore facility in Louisiana by way of an undersea pipeline.

Inpex has stake in Lucius through subsidiary Teikoku Oil (North America). Additional stake in the field was acquired in July 2014. In May, Apache sold all of its interest (11.67%) in Lucius to Freeport-McMoRan Oil and Gas.

In 2011, Anadarko sanctioned the Lucius development which will include six producing wells connected to truss spar, sitting in 7100ft water depth, and measuring 605ft long and 110ft in diameter.

Anadarko operates Lucius with 27.8% interest. Its partners include Inpex, Freeport-McMoran, ExxonMobil, Petrobras, and Eni.
